Your AI chess coach

Understand why – not just what.

An engine tells you a move was bad. Chessory's AI coaches tell you why. They turn engine evaluations into clear explanations about your own games and the positions you actually reach.

“Why was my move wrong?”

After the full analysis, the coach goes through the mistakes and critical moves it found: why your move was weak, which move would have been better – and why it works.

You played 15…a5??Better 15…Nfd5

The pawn on a7 was defending the knight on b6. Advancing it to a5 removes that protection without answering White’s attack. After Qxb6, Nd5 does not recover the piece.

“What's going on here?”

Show the second coach any position – from a game, from a photo, or one you set up yourself. It explains the plans behind it and points out tactical and strategic motifs where they matter.

Position · Best plan: Nf2

Nf2 develops the knight with tempo by attacking the bishop on e4. After the bishop retreats, White can play Ra4, targeting the pawn on a5. Takeaway: improving a piece with an attack gives you time to switch targets.

How it works

  1. Run a full analysis. The engine finds the mistakes and critical moves in your game.
  2. Open a critical move. The first coach explains what went wrong and what would have been better.
  3. Want to understand a position instead? Open any position – from a game, a photo or a free setup – and let the second coach explain it.
Good to know

AI explanations are a learning aid and can contain mistakes. Compare them with the engine lines, especially in complicated positions.

Explanations that have already been generated are saved and reused.

The AI features are especially interesting for players up to around 2000 Elo, and useful at every level.

Your next mistake could be your best lesson.
