What is Chessory?

Chessory is your personal chess database with built-in engine analysis and two AI coaches – for iPad, iPhone and Mac. It brings your games together, finds your mistakes and explains why they were mistakes. So every game you play becomes something you can learn from.

Which devices does Chessory run on?

Chessory is a native app for iPad, iPhone and Mac. The interface is tailored to each device and screen size.

How do I get my Lichess and Chess.com games into Chessory?

Right from your game list: start the sync and Chessory brings in your games from Lichess and Chess.com and updates your collection. Our guide shows you how in a short video.

Can I enter games I played at the board?

Yes. You can enter over-the-board games manually, for example from your club, and analyze them like any other game. You can also set up any position freely, import positions in FEN format and games in PGN format. See Add games and positions.

Can I export my games?

Yes. Chessory exports games in PGN format so you can share them or use them in other chess programs.

What does the full analysis do?

The built-in chess engine reviews a whole game, finds mistakes and critical moves and lets you explore variations. With MultiPV you can compare several candidate lines and their evaluations. More in Analyze a full game.

What do the AI coaches do?

Chessory has two AI coaches. One explains the mistakes found in the full analysis: why your move was weak and why another move would have been better. The other explains any position and points out tactical and strategic motifs where they matter. Learn more on the AI coach page.

Are the AI explanations always correct?

No. AI explanations are a learning aid and can contain mistakes. Compare them with the engine's lines, especially in complicated positions.

Are explanations saved?

Yes. Explanations that have already been generated are saved and reused.

Can I use a photo of a board?

Yes. With the AI image import you can turn a photo or screenshot into a board position and analyze it. You get one position, not a whole game or move list. Always check the detected position and correct it if needed. See From a photo to a board position.

Are my games available on all my devices?

Yes. Your entire game database, including all full analyses, is available on every device synced via iCloud. You can enter a game on your iPad and look at it on your iPhone afterwards. More on the devices page.
